Key fact Up to 300°C

01 — Understand

Propellane technology, in three points

Propellane develops high-temperature heat-pump systems that electrify industrial heat above 100°C without increasing operating costs compared with gas. Its solutions combine gas/electricity flexibility, thermal-energy storage and waste-heat recovery, enabling manufacturers to reduce CO₂ emissions while protecting their business model.

01 The solution

A high-temperature industrial heat pump with thermal storage.

02 Technology principle

The heat pump raises the temperature to as much as 300°C while integrated storage retains surplus energy and releases it when required.

03 Applications

  • Food processing
  • Chemicals
  • Paper
  • Textiles

Founded in Paris in 2022, Propellane is a deeptech start-up designing and marketing medium- and high-temperature industrial heat pumps up to 300°C. The pumps are coupled to an innovative thermal-storage system and are designed to operate without a cost premium over fossil gas.

Very-high-temperature industrial heat pumps

At the heart of Propellane’s technology is an industrial heat pump capable of delivering heat at up to 300°C, combined with thermal storage. Built around a new type of compressor, the system stores excess heat produced outside peak-demand periods and returns it when needed, ensuring continuous and flexible supply.

The plug-and-play module is intended to decarbonise applications currently served by gas-fired furnaces and boilers. It integrates directly into existing installations, simplifies maintenance and targets no additional operating cost. Propellane states that the units can divide process CO₂ and NOₓ emissions by five or six while maintaining high energy efficiency.

The company aims to make industrial-heat electrification competitive and accessible across food processing, chemicals, paper and textiles, contributing to carbon-neutral industry.
